ACPA Starkville
Our story began in the 1980s when Mrs. Glenda Clark opened Dancing Feet Academy in Starkville, Mississippi. What started in a small space—the "old VanLandingham building" as it was called—quickly became a pillar in the local dance community. In 2000, the studio moved to its current location, continuing to grow in both reputation and impact. In 2011, Ashley Maples, a former student with a passion for excellence and innovation, became business manager and helped Mrs. Glenda rebrand the studio as the Academy of Competitive and Performing Arts (ACPA), honoring the past while paving the way for a new generation of athletes. Ashley purchased ACPA from Mrs. Glenda upon her retirement in 2014.
Today, ACPA is more than just a studio—it’s a second home for athletes who are serious about growth, training, and pushing beyond limits. We offer a wide range of classes that develop strong technique, performance quality, and character. From recreational beginners to elite competitors, every athlete here is supported and challenged to reach their full potential. With the addition of exciting new programs like TWIRL, we’re expanding opportunities for students to try new skills, shine on stage, and gain confidence that carries far beyond the studio walls.
Looking ahead, our vision is bold and unapologetic—we’re not just growing, we’re leading. As the flagship studio of the Golden Triangle, we’re proud to train athletes who drive over an hour just to be part of what we’re building. We are always seeking fresh talent, new programs, and creative ways to inspire the next generation. The future is bright, and we’re just getting started.
